Parham in Sussex at Storrington was the venue for our 2018 District get together. We held a short service with the colours flying, an address from our District Chaplin, Ben Martin and musical accompaniment with rousing choruses of When a Knight Won His Spurs, Sussex by the Sea and, of course, The National Anthem from Petworth Town Band.

Robert Sawyer, West Sussex Scouts County Commissioner, presented Pat Homer, District Secretary, with her Chief Scouts Commendation; Glyn Pullen, District Commissioner, received his Award for Merit and Kath Bridger, our previous District Commissioner, received her Bar to the Award for Merit.

Following the service everyone took part in a wide variety of activities. We had stalls to raise funds for our young people going to the World Jamboree in 2018 including s’mores, woggle making, sweets and pyrography which raised £80. Some of the groups brought activities including Ifold who helped people make dutch pancakes and S&S offered archery, badge making and biscuit decorating.

The District provided a soap box car track which caused hilarity all round (how hard can it be to drive in a circle?) and thankfully no serious injuries along with pedal cars and grass sledges.

The weather was superb and the District expresses its thanks to all those who made the day possible. Especially the Jamboree parents and the Scout Active Support.

St Georges Day 2019 will be Sunday 28th April (TBC)
